The following instructions are provided to guide you during your recovery at home. Please carefully read and follow these guidelines to ensure a smooth healing process:
Physical and Cognitive Rest:
- Rest is crucial for brain healing. Avoid strenuous physical activities, including exercise, for the first few weeks following your injury.
- Limit activities that require intense concentration or mental effort, such as reading, working on a computer, or watching television for extended periods.
- Take regular breaks and ensure sufficient sleep and rest throughout the day.
Medications:
- Take all prescribed medications as directed by your doctor, including pain relievers, anti-seizure medications, and any other medications.
- Follow the recommended schedule and dosage instructions provided to you.
- If you experience any adverse reactions or have concerns about your medications, consult your healthcare provider.
Cognitive and Speech Therapy:
- Your doctor may recommend cognitive and speech therapy sessions to aid in your recovery. Attend all scheduled appointments and follow the therapist’s instructions.
- Engage in exercises and activities designed to improve memory, attention, language skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Inform your therapist if you experience any difficulties or frustrations during the sessions.
Safety Measures:
- Take precautions to prevent falls and further head injuries.
- Use handrails, non-slip mats, and other safety devices in your home.
- Avoid activities that may put you at risk of injury, such as contact sports or high-risk recreational activities.
- Wear appropriate protective gear, such as helmets, when engaging in activities with a risk of head injury.
Diet and Nutrition:
- Follow a healthy and balanced diet to support your recovery and overall well-being.
- Ensure an adequate intake of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats.
- Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids unless otherwise instructed by your doctor.
Signs of Issues:
- Be aware of any signs of potential complications and seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of the following:
- Worsening headache, persistent nausea, or vomiting
- Increased drowsiness or difficulty waking up
- Seizures or convulsions
- Slurred speech or difficulty understanding speech
- Weakness or numbness in the arms or legs

- If you experience symptoms of depression, anxiety, or any other mental health concerns, consult your healthcare provider for appropriate guidance and support.
